      @mitu said in PSX scraping woes:

      @baviaannl Have you checked the video files - played them in another video player ? Maybe they're encoded differently and (even) VLC cannot play them. If it's not the gamelist, maybe it's the videos.

      VLC on my Mac can play these files OK, tried a few media players without any issues.

      Quick update.

      I went through and cleaned up some of my rom folders and deleted all game lists and downloaded images on my PI. ES scraped ones and sselphs. I ended up running sselphs and turned out pretty good. 1 snes was hack-link which I expected, zelda parallel worlds. Which from maybe my reddit post, hack-link is the default screenscrapper image when it can't find a image. Another system, forgetting now, had maybe 10. That one has good videos and images but the name was hack-link. Switched it and was good. Nes did have a good amount but did actually download correct images and video. I noticed that most were showing correct info but in the game list the <name> was hack-link. Changed it and was good, it was just the name display that was wrong for most.

      The ones left that didn't work and were fill the the psp hack-link name and info looked to be duplicates /versioned copies of a game. For instance super mario, super mario [a1], super mario [a2]. That might not be an exact example but a similar scenario. As I find them I'll fix them manually.

      @mitu Thank you very much for pointing that out! Turns out when I setup my static IP address I typo'd the DNS server address.

      I did a sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf which showed be the DNS was 10.0.01

      I then did: sudo nano /etc/dhcpcd.conf and noticed that I had the same typo on my wifi IP settings. Fixed the typo, rebooted and I'm in business.

      Also, another poster was right, even though I have ROMS on the USB drive running the scraper from retropie-setup.sh works great.

      Thanks for the help!

      thegamesdb,net API is offline. Use a different scraper or just wait. How many times is this issue going to be posted? Oh, just checked their site, it's all new and fancy.

      @tmntturtlguy
      Thank you! I did make sure and both are correct. Still not showing up though. It should be this simple though right? Show it where to look...show the game list where to look...it pops up right?
      I guess the real question is, do I need to manually edit the game list file. A lot of my games for neogeo pocket are not even in there for some reason (perhaps they have not been scraped?)

      Edit: after much trial and error. The correct file is located @ /home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/ngp/Faselei!-image.jpg

      Not sure why my network places it here...but this is where it goes! Art work all updated; now begins the process of finding all the art and manually typing in junk!

      For anyone that stumbles upon this post in the future, the fix was to delete all instances of gamelist.xml (can be found by issuing sudo find / -name gamelist.xml), the downloaded images sudo rm -fv ~/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/nes/*, and then ran the command again.

      Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

      Asking for help without even trying to look this up or understanding what this means, results in more work for others, even if some awesome members already put work into a clear explanation, is bad (I guess)... Looking your "problem" up in the docuentations/wikis/github pages (or even on google) would have given you the right answer...

      However:
      This isn't an error... It just means that the scraper could not found the name of the rom (or in this case the hash of it) in the metadata/image database! This basicly means that there is no metadata/image for this game.
      You might be able to "solve" this by using another database

      @IWANIAK

      has anyone experienced this?

      With these types of things, there are usually cases to be found where others have experienced similar issues. However, your case may be different. It will be much easier to help you specifically if you post the requested information about your setup found at https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

      Lately there has been some issues with the scraper itself and it sometimes didn't got the images from the site, so maybe just try again to see if it works.
      If not you can maybe try and look on screenscraper.fr to see if your roms have the right names. By default It uses hashes and names to get the images but if both are wrong you get nothing.
      Sadly there is no way (yet) to create the Mix images from local files but @screech has that on his ToDo list but we have to wait for that.

      If there are no images for certain games you have the option to upload some, but i'm not sure how exactly that works.
